Conrad has his eyes on Raven the first moment he saw her at the Garden of the White Lotus.
The smell of her blood driven him closer and tempted his lust for a kill.
But, when their first eyes to eyes meeting happened that night, a story of Raven’s life as a servant changed forever.
Lucky for everyone, Raven is here to tell the story…

---

It started when the moon stood above their head and the stars hid behind the wool of clouds…
His eyes were beautiful, dazzling, almost like pearls under the reflection of the moon. It was always refreshing to see the mists in his lively, yet pale orbs…like the champagne swirled in a slender glass he held in his hand. Mysterious and tempting.

“Raven…” The voice was soft, almost like a whisper. I could have imagined an angel talking to me if I have not noticed his fangs, glistened under the shafting light of the moon. My eyes travelled down back to his lithe fingers, wrapping around the fragile glass. Then, I noticed…it wasn’t champagne, was it?

The liquid has a dark, appealing color to it. It was so red, almost like a color of ember and it was too surreal to be any kind of normal drink. He twirled the glass rod, producing a series of clicking sounds that matched so well with the quietness of the balcony. But not even the charming grin could take my eyes off the inexplicable liquid.

“Pegasus, the best blood I have ever tasted during my visit to this world.” He winked and turned to the moon. He had a long, jet hair that fell perfectly over his shoulder. He looked amazing…almost befitting an angel, or perhaps devil.

“Would you like to taste our special delicacy? We have the best cook from France and Italy.” I suggested with a hint of enthusiasm. Man, even I was surprised at how normal my voice sounded despite my quivering lips and sweaty chests.

“Thank you, but I have found my prey.” I took a step back and gasped silently, it was a normal reaction whenever I felt threatened. No matter how harmless he sounded at that moment, I still could not pry his statement.

Instead of running like a mad woman, I bowed in courtesy and clicked my tongue in the calmest way I have ever acted in front of any guest I have served in the mansion. “Please, help yourself. I will be near the fountain if you ever need anything.” I took a tray of used glasses and was about to push the curtain away when his voice startled me.

“Stay here!” Unlike all his requests before, his voice suddenly sounded demanding and desperate. This was a command I could not eschew. I turned on my heels to the fine gentleman and placed down the tray. “Stay here, I have something to show you.” His voice lightened, his shoulder calmed and his eyes looked as welcoming as the ones of the innocent. “Come nearer, I need to see your eyes.” I could not help myself but to scoff and think that he was just plain joking. I knew well enough that he could see me better under the neon light than under the glow of the sick moon.

But it was an order…an order I could not ignore. “Yes, sir.” I could see his smile grew at each passing moment as I stepped closer to him and as soon as I stopped in front of him, his fangs glistened, blinding my sane mind as I fell into his spell.

“Your eyes are the most beautiful.” He whispered close to my ears as his ghostly breath tickled my skin, leaving it damp and warm under its sensual touch. “Have a little of my drink, you seemed tired.” His fingers brushed my bangs as it made its way to the back of my head.

His bizarre request sank into my head like a piece of invisible paper as I was evaluating my position as a servant in the mansion compared to the most powerful and influential man in the city. But my job demanded me to follow orders without question. So, a harmless sip wouldn’t hurt, would it?

The juice tasted weird, sharp and strong. It carried much abundance taste along with its addictive flavor. Somehow, it felt familiar and reminded me to the time when I had a cut on my finger and had to suck it, so it would not fall into the curry.

“I have a gift for you.” His hand was brought back into his pocket before he took the glass from my hand and placed it on the banister. “It is a gift for your well service tonight. But, you have to close your eyes, so you won’t ruin the surprise.” As much as my heart was screaming, telling me not to comply, my eyes closed shut as my body fell under his command and I was nothing more than a puppet.

As soon as darkness overwhelmed me, a painful, ivory poked through my skin, triggered me. I could feel a drop of warm blood trickling down my neck and as my scream chocked myself, it was too late. The moon had turned bloody red and the cloud had turned grey. With a small sob, I knew I have lost my human sight.

When he said he has found his prey, he was not joking. I am his prey and he had sucked me dry. As soon as I fell to the floor in a loud thud, the glass broke above my head. Everything was spinning and the only voice I heard was the menacing whisper of the vampire.

“This is a gift of immortality. Welcome to my world.” His smile, his smirk…everything disappeared as I was thrown into an endless abyss…
